OK, I know that as a mom that the idea of a Holiday Fitness Plan sounds impossible, but it really isnt as hard as you think. Because the average american gains 5-8 lbs between Thanksgiving and and New Years day, a large portion of the plan does involve self control. Trust me it is easier to just NOT gain the weight then it is to lose it later! Keep in mind the number one resolution for people in the New Year is to "get in shape" and "loose weight" 75% of people last until Feb 20. and the other 25% drop out by April 1. So setting small, realistic goals and doing them NOW while your life is hectic, makes it easier to stick with as the New Year arrives.

1) eliminate the junk. all that junky stuff you buy at the store, cookies, chips, crackers, etc, do not buy them this month as you will surely be inundadted by Christmas goodies from friends, family, neighbors, and holiday parties.

2) Since indulging in the above said Christmas goodies is pretty much inevitable set the rest of your day up as picture perfect clean eating.

Breakfast: 1/2 c of greek yogurt with raspberries, strawberries, and banana slices.

lunch: large spinach salad with veggies and balsalmic dressing.

dinner: 4-6 oz of chicken and fish with steamed veggetable.

That leaves you some wiggle room for a cookie here, a cup of egg nog there etc. etc.

3) start your workout NOW, get into a daily morning habit, of push ups, lunges, crunches, and 5-10 minutes of yoga stretching. Keeping your body moving, will keep your metabolism up and as the holidays pass and your realize you feel really good about your workout it will be so much easier to then strike up a big workout plan in Jan.

4) eliminate excuses, you CAN do this, you just have to put the tv clicker down at night and redefine "down time" instead of sitting in a chair to relax, do 15 min of exercise knowing you are doing good things for your body!
