This past weekend Anthony and I got in the Holiday Spirit by going up to Knott's Merry Farm and enjoying their Holiday festivities. I was quite surprised at all the activities, parades, and shows there were to enjoy! From Thanksgiving day until Jan 1 Knott's turns its park into "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
I actually haven't been to Knott's since I was 13, so I had no idea what to expect. But the wild west theme of the park all spruced up for Christmas was awesome, there was so much to see and do!
Our first stop in the park was the Christmas Craft fair, tons of local artists offering their items for sale. In several of the stores you can stop in an do your own craft, Anthony was a bit too young for them as we learned when he tried to throw the glass ornament instead of decorate it.. he loves to play catch and to him it looked like a ball :/ BUT we did get Daddy's Christmas gift... a marshmallow shooter! Yep it looks like a "gun" made out of PVC pipe and you put in marshmallows and then blow hard in the top and out shoots the marshmallow, Anthony thought it was hilarious!
Our next stop was for a ride on the Christmas train, a huge steam engine rides around the park and Caroller's lead everyone in "We wish you a Merry Christmas" and "Frosty the snowman" and a few other Christmas Classics.
While waiting for the train we got to see the Calico Corner stage performers, These are all local dance troops that give dance performances to a variety of both show tunes and Christmas classics. The dancing was a big hit with Anthony as he loves to shake his booty!
We tried to make it to Snoopy on Ice next to see "It's Christmas Snoopy" but the ice had melted due to a power outage. The last thing we did was head over to see their performance of "Gift of the Magi" again it was a bit over Anthony's head and hard to get him to sit still but it was a great performance and lasted about 20 minutes.
The best part of Knotts Merry Farm is that there literally something for all ages in your family. If you are crafty and a foodie, you can go make homemade fudge, if you are into wild roller coasters, well there are several to choose from, there are childrens rides that are perfect for toddlers, and there are lots of performances so when you are ready to take a break from all the walking around you can sit and relax and be entertained.
I totally can see the value in buying a season pass as we were there for 4 hours but didn't even see half of the park.
A trip to Knotts Merry Farm is a definite must for everyone during the Holidays!
