Pop-Tarts: Made for fun. Really?

Tonight as I watched a recorded TV show (that ran during prime time), I came across a commercial that angered me. It was about Pop-Tarts. It had these happy looking cartoon features (kids and mom), lots of colors, most of which looked like candy and then the tag-line for the Pop-Tarts was "Made for Fun". Maybe I'm a bit…

How to Make Popsicles for Toddlers

We eat a lot of fruit in our house.  Sometimes I get a little over zealous and buy way too much and end up with a basket of super ripe fruit at the end of the week.  We usually use this to make smoothies or popsicles.  We have been mixing up some interesting concoctions over here & I wanted to share a few. (my popsicle mold makes 6 so these recipes are all for 6 pops.)

Honeydew Lime Pops

1/2 honeydew or canary melon cubed

2 limes, juiced

2 tablespoons…

Toddler Food Ideas

My son is 11 months and he no longer wants to eat purees and loves to feed himself. However, we are extremely cautious about the types of solids we feed him. So far I give him the puss, peas, ground chicken, cooked apples, rice, cooked sweet potatoes and cooked carrots. However, I feel that we need to try some other foods that he can feed to himself but I still want to be cautious because we aren't with him during the day. Does anyone have any ideas to share?

Favorite Family Recipe - Salmon on Asian-style Spinach

This recipe is easy to make and so flavorful. I always get compliments and asked for the recipe. It's great for lunch or dinner and if you make the portions larger it's also great as a party-dish since it's still good at room temperature. It's even better the next day!

This is something that we got from a bag of Green Giant veggies but they no longer sell the original bag of veggie and pasta so we've adjusted the original recipe.

1 box of spiral pasta
Favorite cesar's salad dressing

Cut chicken to bite size pieces. Cook in the frying pan with desired seasoning (we…

My Fav Toddler Meal

So, I'll be honest - I kind of made this up. After we visited Pomme Baby in Newport Beach I was inspired to find something my new eater would be interested in - she had just started trying to feed herself and I was looking for a healthy complete protein for meals. Its super easy - Trader Joe's sells already cooked brown rice in the frozen section and a veggie mix called Soy-cotash. Its the traditional succotash mix with soy beans instead of lima beans, plus green beans and corn, but any…
