Activities in Orange County for Infants

Since my son is only 10 months old, our activities are a bit limited, but we certainly have our fair share of fun! Our typical, daily fun is simple....at home, playing, just me and him. As every parent knows, the days pass so quickly, our children grow up so fast! One day he had trouble crawling the makeshift ramp I made in the living room out of the couch cushions while the next day he conquered the ramp and discovered the "hidden tunnel" the ramp created underneath. It's amazing! I am…

Christmas Lights in Aliso Viejo - Holiday Activities in Aliso Viejo

Hey Mommies! There is a fabulous neighborhood right around the corner from my house that gets seriously, decked out for the holidays. Check out the article in the OC Register mentioning the festive community! It's a lot of fun to walk around with the kiddos. Last year, I put Colin in the Bjorn and he was in awe... This year, he's running from house to house with lots of excitement!! We've been…

Taking Family Holiday Pictures- That Was Just Crazy!

Man I should have just hopped on the computer and photoshopped images of each of my family members into one, to give the illusion that it was all planned, a family holiday photo... because taking family pictures last week was the biggest ordeal I've been through thus far.

It starts off the day before with my third child (uh hhmm, husband) not wanting to take them. "Let's just use another picture we have", he said to me when I told him we needed to be up and out the door at…

My Favorite Mommy & Me Activity - Von's

Food shopping. That's right. I said food shopping. At Von's...to be specific...

Since he was an itty bitty infant, food shopping has been a weekly adventure for us. This may be shocking...no...more like ironic since my skills in the kitchen are less than spectacular....but I love to go food shopping. I'm not one of those super organized people who go in with a list of exactly what I need for the week and have my stack of coupons ready...no, no...not…

Help for cold symptoms

We pediatricians feel really helpless when it comes to the common cold. Children can be expected to catch a few a year and there really isn't much we can do to help alleviate their symptoms. Of course ibuprofen or acetaminophen work great for pain or fever. Saline and humidifiers can help keep phlegm loose. Honey can ease an cough. There is no evidence though that OTC cough and cold medicines help children, and there is the risk of significant side effects and unnecessary ER visits for… Continue

Baby Screams in the Car

Soooo I thought the car was supposed to be this great place parents could count on for some peace and quiet with their kids. You know, kind of a last resort when all else fails. I thought the car was supposed to be a guarantee for a great nap.

Sooooo why do both of my kids (as babies) scream their head off in the car?????? OMG!

With my first daughter I was so confused when I loaded her in the car, with her favorite car seat toy and a soft plush blanket and the…

Connecting with Moms in Orange County

My husband and I run 2 websites similar in style to our beloved ocmommies.com One is fitness and one is for a car community. We often get new members who are new to the area or state and are looking to connect. We spend a lot of time getting to know all the people on our sites, we have a blast at car events, and going to car rally's. Between myself and my husband and my brother we are able to welcome every person and serve as the point person for them to meet up.

But sadly one slipped… Continue

Favorite Mommy & Me Activity

Hmmm... I have been thinking a lot about this since the contest was announced....being a stay at home mom means I am blessed to be able to do so many mommy and me activities. So trying to decide between My Gym, swim lessons, park play dates, etc...was really difficult because Cordelia and I really have fun doing just about anything together (even going to the grocery store). But after much deliberation I think our favorite mommy and me activity is singing in the car...well singing… Continue

Yoga Works in Mission Viejo- A Great Activity for Moms and Babies

My favorite Mommy and Me activity was the baby yoga class I took with my son when he was about 7 weeks old at Yoga Works MV. It was such a nice relaxing time that we got to spend with each other when the rest of our day was chaotic! The instructor (Linda) was very helpful with all of my new baby concerns too! I also attended in the Prenatal Yoga class they offered which was wonderful!

Mommy and Me Activities - Great Parks for kids in Irvine - Orange County

As soon as the topic of “Favorite Mommy & Me” activity went up, I started thinking “Oooh! What do we really love to do?!”. Well, with twins who don’t like to be strapped in a stroller or car seat for very long, we stick pretty close to home most days, and our daily…

Favorite Mommy and Me activity in OC- Granola Babies

One of my favorite things to do in Orange County is taking Penny to Granola Babies for some mommy and me fun.

We love Granola Babies for various reasons among which are the fact that the store is just beautiful and Giselle takes care of everyone who stops-by. She has a beautiful studio attached with couches and lots of toys for mommies to enjoy and for babies to play. She hosts several classes and other fun activities through the week too.… Continue

Alex, 8 months, enjoys long walks by the beach or the park...

Sounds like a personal ad for my little guy, but really - our favorite Mommy & Me activity is going for long walks just about anywhere. He loves to sit in his stroller and look at the passers-by, the sand, the trees, birds, dogs, you name it, he's interested. He's quite the conversationalist too - he babbles about something he sees or hears, and I respond back to him. People walking by might be thinking I'm crazy, but I'm just out enjoying my time with the little guy!

I Wish I had Ten Hands

Hands down, the hardest adjustment, for me, in going from one to two kids is learning that I can no longer give 100% of my time to my oldest. For the past 19 months, our lives have revolved around her. At any point, my daughter had someone to pick her up, an ear ready to listen her latest news, a leg to bounce on and her pick of which parent was going to put her to sleep at night (don't tell my husband, but it's always me). So, now that I have a newborn in my hands 20 hours of the day and…

Walks in Woodbury, Irvine

My favorite thing to do with my little man is walk around Woodbury. He is loving facing outward in his carrier and taking in all the gorgeous sites! I am excited to meet other Moms and go for group walks and outings!

My Worst Fear - My Baby is a Toddler...

Ok, fine...It's not really my 'worst' fear...but it's a day that I thought was SO far away when my little angel was born...and yet, it is here.

I have been thinking about Kevin's First Birthday since he was about 9 months old. What should we do for it? Have a big party with all of his baby friends? Go to Disney? (which is what we decided to do)... Would he be walking or crawling by then? What would he be eating?...How many teeth would he have? Well, I now have the answers…

Great advice from a wise man

"The more people have studied different methods of bringing up children the more they have come to the conclusion that what good mothers and fathers instinctively feel like doing for their babies is usually best after all. Furthermore, all parents do their best job when they have a natural, easy confidence in themselves.… Continue

Pretend City- Irvine Activities for Moms and Kids

My very favorite place to bring my girls is Pretend City in Irvine. It's a place where they are free to roam and explore freely, to use their imagination and learn new things by actually doing them. They can be waitresses in the restaurant, police officers at the police station, a doctor or nurse in the clinic, farmers plowing in the field or a construction worker building a kid size "house". They have watched chicks hatch from their shell, made pinwheels that really work, listened to many an… Continue
