Do I Have Gestational Diabetes?????

The last thing I expected to hear when my doctor's nurse called me yesterday was, "your glucose tolerance test came back abnormal". "oookkkayyy", I replied hesitantly, "what does THAT mean'. "You need to go back for a three-hour test for gestational diabetes", she replied. WHHAT? I've heard of it, but never thought too much about it as I never thought I would be a case for diabetes.

Of course I ran to my computer to look it up online. My first thought was, did I eat…

Delivering at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo

Last week marks my 4th visit to the Labor and Delivery unit at Mission Hospital. Doing the math here, I only have one child so the other 3 visits were due to complications with my pregnancies (2 of them are with my current pregnancy). When I called my doctor at 22 weeks I was complaining of contractions. I really thought she would check me in her office and then free me to go, but instead, she admitted me to Labor and Delivery. The second time was last week, same thing, contractions at 27…

Does your toddler have a SUPER MOPI?

It's like a motor cycle but has two wheels really close in the back (so in essence three wheels but looks like a two wheeler). When I first saw it on Amazon I just had to find out more. I googled it but couldn't come up with much then found some YouTube videos with kids just zooming about so freely on it AND picking it up, going up and down staircases themselves! It's like 2 lbs or so! Super light and b/c the front wheel can turn it's so maneuverable and fun for the little ones. Every time we… Continue

Your kid will need a house to go with the car mentioned below....

Mollie already blogged about one of our favorite toys ~ the Little Tykes Cozy Coupe. But where better to park your car, than next to your own little home?! The Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Learning Home has been one of my son's favorite toys! He started playing with it when he was around 6 months old and still enjoys it at 16 months. I am amazed that it still keeps his interest, but I realize that he constantly discovers new ways to play with it. At first it was pushing the doorbell that… Continue

ABC's of Pool safety

We are in the midst of summer fun and with that comes responsibility for making sure our precious little ones remain safe. It isn't a surprise that this season is also nick named "ER" season. More emergencies happen in these short 3 months then any other time of the year. Most of these emergencies are preventable with the proper precautions! As the saying goes, "Children drown without a sound" couldn't be more haunting and more true. It only takes a few inches of water and few seconds for a… Continue

Just Get This Toy - Best Toy Cozy Coupe

This toy might be a little old for some of the audience on this blog (er, your children at least), but come toddlerhood, just do yourself a favor and get this toy for your kid. It will save you some embarrassment over your child trying to hoard/steal it at playdates or birthday parties because pretty much every toddler I know is OBSESSED with the Cozy Coup!!!…

California Whooping Cough Outbreak Worst in Decades

See the attached article....they are recommending that we as parents start getting the pertussis vaccine...I have looked into it and the CVS Minute Clinic is administering them. They accept most insurances and do not require an appointment. I will be heading there this weekend. Better safe than sorry...…

Our Favorite Toy: Tiny Love Play Mat

As many parents do, we registered for a play mat because others recommended doing so and it seemed like a good toy. Thanks to the recommendations and reviews from "Baby Bargains", we registered for the "Tiny Love Gymini: Super Deluxe Lights & Music Play Mat". Even though this toy is basically usable as soon as your baby comes home from the hospital, it seemed much more relevant as our girls got a little older (to be honest, I don't remember exactly when we started using it). At… Continue

Favorite Playtime - Sophie the Giraffe

Hmmm....this is a hard one because it seems to change each week/month...in the beginning it was the activity mat with all the fun things hanging down for Cordelia to play with....then it was the exersaucer because she could occupy herself for 15-20 minutes while I got things done....but right now Cordelia loves her Sophie the Giraffe....I have read multiple posts on here that people think it is a waste of money but not for us. Cordelia loves it, she giggles when it squeaks at her and she… Continue

Favorite baby toy - Taggie Ball

Since my firstborn, Kaitlyn, is now 3, I will post about my baby Davon's toy preferences. I went out and searched for the Taggie, since at 7 1/2 months, Davon's primary interest is the tags on ANYTHING. Got a great big stuffed doggie from Ikea? Cute, I want the tag in my mouth - don't care that it's attached in an anatomically unattractive spot. Baby blanket to play on? Oh great, look, mommy didn't remove the fabric tag, and I'm putting it straight…

fav baby toy

Well, this one is hard. My kid likes anything that she can pull up on or stick in her mouth and at this point in her life, none of those things are made for babies. :) I wish I could say it was the Miracle Sophie the Giraffe I paid an arm and a leg for or the Fisher Price SeaHorse, but alas, it is none of those things. But there has been one thing that she has been crazy interested in these days. I was tired of giving Playskool and Fisher Price all my money for overpriced toys that she loses…

Laurin's Favorite toy

Presenting one third of the the infantino cow car seat trio. There's a pig and roster that are part of this set...but Laurin wants NOTHING to do with them...she perfers her "Moo cow friend" as we have come to know her (cows are girls, bulls are boys after all). While there are other toys I have picked out to serve a purpose (visual stimulation, tactile, teething, ect) I can't go…

The Soothing Sounds of Mr. Fish

Our favorite baby toy is the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Crib Toy. Or as its known in our house, Mr. Fish. Mr. Fish dances, plays music and lights up. He is the last round of entertainment before naps and bed time and the ONLY reason my daughter went to sleep at all in the beginning of “sleep training.”…

My Favorite Baby Gear - Baby Bjorn

As I was thinking about what's my favorite baby item, the BabyBjorn Baby Carrier Active immediately popped into my head. Although my girls didn't start out liking it as newborns, they've come to LOVE it as long as they're outward facing. The Bjorn allows my husband and I to get stuff done around the house, take walks outside, and maneuver with our girls in places that a… Continue

Favorite Baby Gear- BOB Jogging Stroller

When picking out a stroller before my baby was born, I knew I only wanted one stroller due to lack of space. I also wanted a jogger so I could get back to running once the baby was born (still working on that one). The BOB is so easy to run/walk with and very light. I also got the infant seat adapter for the car seat, so I could use this stroller right from the start but not for jogging since you can't jog when the baby is in the infant seat.…

I Love An Octopus

I swear she has 8 hands – and sometimes 8 feet. She grabs, throws, topples and destroys faster than I can blink. FORGET about the grocery store, as fast as I can get it in, my 15 month old pulls it out – and don’t get within a foot of the aisle shelves OR other peoples carts (or their…

New Group and Support Group for Moms of Preemies Orange County

Today I added a group for moms of preemies, so if you delivered prematurely (before 38 weeks) OR if you are pregnant now and anticipate a preemie birth (i.e., you have complications, are hospitalized on bedrest, have multiples, etc.), please check it out on the "Groups" page. Even if you delivered a preemie baby years ago, you can be a great support person for someone who is going through it now.

Favorite Baby Gear- Step 2 Neighborhood Wagon

How many babies out there hate their stroller?! My son isn't thrilled about riding in a stroller... but then again I never really used one. When he was little I just carried him everywhere or wore him in the Ergo. Once he started walking he wanted to walk ALL the time so if I did bring a stroller I'd end up trying to push it with one hand, while holding onto Matthew's hand as he walked next to me.

Then he got the Step2 Neighborhood Wagon for Christmas. Oh man, does he love…
