How to get rid of the Muffin top

OK, so this is a pretty common question. I get a lot of people who say

they work their abs all the time, and they can't seem to get rid of the

pouch or muffin top that forms.

First of all... if you aren't doing cardio and watching your diet you

will never have a six pack. No matter how many infomercial products and

6-minute ab workouts you try if there is any subcutaneous fat on top of

the muscle it will not allow the muscles to "pop" through, however… Continue

Maternal Mortality Rate on the Rise- Great... Just What I Need to Hear Before My Upcoming C-Section

A week before I had my unplanned c-section, I had learned of this horrible story in which a 30 year old woman died a few days after her c-section from complications, with only one meeting of her baby. Her husband, Matt, was devastated and left to care for their newborn baby girl. Had I known I was going to have a c-section, I would have been freaked out (as I do about everything). Now with my second child coming and a recommended c-section again, I am now faced with those fears of something…

I am officially an idiot!

This morning I took lil man down to Stockport park to watch a free concert by a new kids group called "Smile and Sing" there were about 40 mom or dads and about 80 kids (I may be way off, that may be creative accounting) But anyhoo....

As we are all clapping our hands, pulling on our ears, sticking out our tongues. I thought , if an alien where transported here and saw this he would think we have all gone mad... or have joined a cult.. either way.. not good... not good at… Continue

Just Add Another Chin While You're At It

Considering all that we go through after our babies are born (i.e- sleepless nights, breastfeeding 24/7, recovering from stitches and on and on), one would think the pregnancy Gods/powers-that-be would cut us a little slack while pregnant. Instead, the affects of childrearing hit way earlier that the day you give birth. In fact, the minute that stick shows two lines, everything starts to change.

I feel like I…

Nutrition Suggestions for Expecting Moms- What Can I Eat While Pregnant?

Many women look at pregnancy as a chance for a free for all eating marathon. Yes you definitely need to intake more calories, but you want to be sure that you are getting the nutrients necessary to help ease your body into this transition as well as benefit your baby. I’m sure you have often heard the phrase “ Well I am eating…

"Ribollita" an authentic Tuscan dish! Healthy and so good!

Hi Ladies,

I just got back from the most amazing trip to Italy and I would like to share a recipe I myself helped cook at a cooking class in the small town of Tavarnelle. It is easy, healthy and a great side that will get better as a left over the next day.

A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

Motherhood...it's a love/hate relationship.. (how it has changed me)

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love my son more than life itself. I wouldn't change anything.

The feeling I had the first time I saw my son... well, unless you have had a child, you will not understand that feeling. It is a feeling, emotion, that cannot be explained. It is as if a part of you "opened" up that never existed before. I live for his smile and giggle...

But I do feel like I have lost…

How has motherhood changed my life?

Hmmm, to date being a Mommy has been the most amazing experience ever! With amazing comes hardships though. My son is 6 weeks old now and I finally gathered up enough courage to take him out and meet up with a girlfriend who also has a 6 week old daughter. During lunch, my son had a poopy-explosion, which ended up all over him, the carseat and me! I figured since I got through that I can get through anything! I notice I'm not as occupied with how I look anymore (at all). It is common for me to… Continue

How Motherhood changed my life!!

After struggling for several years with infertility our 2nd round of in-vitro paid off on January 17th 2010. Our beautiful babies were born... Twins!! A boy and a girl! It was the happiest day of our lives. My dreams of becoming a mommy came true on January 17th 2010. We are so grateful and blessed we got two beautiful healthy babies. My husband and I have our hands full but it's so worth all we've been through to get where we are now. Our lives…

this surreal life

The anniversary of when I found out I was pregnant is here. Wow, what a year. It was very late one summer night. Had that little voice in the back of my head tell me, "Hm, wasn't I suppose to get my period by now?" Pee on a stick, no problem. Wait a minute...what!? I was in a state of shock. OMG, we're getting married in a month and now I'm pregnant! My husband had been longing to start a family and I wanted to make extra sure I was pregnant before telling him, so I…

Motherhood lesson #1

I’ve always been a hard worker, a bit of a perfectionist, and when determined to make something happen, I worked my tail off to make it happen. So when I saw moms who did not breastfeed their babies, I believed that they had not tried hard enough – were impatient, lazy, or just plain did not want what was best for their babies. Oh how I was an ignorant fool, and my own experience in motherhood has…

I Want YOU

I don't know why I am suddenly making this distinction now. Maybe it's becuase my son is communicating so much more now that he is 20 months old. Maybe it's because we are stuck at home a lot more that I am now 9 months pregnant. Maybe it's just the pregnancy hormones, but I am realizing that my son not only needs me, he WANTS me.

When he was first born, I knew he needed me to be his source of food, but everything else my husband and mom could do for him as well. There was…

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

My husband and I were shocked to find out we were pregnant. We had been married for one year, I was only 24 and I was on birth control! Through out my pregnancy we both tried to keep a calm and pulled together front but behind closed doors we were completely freaked out! I had spent most of my life taking care of children. I am the oldest of five kids and I nannied throughout my high school years… Continue
