Baby Carrier Exercises

When Colin was an infant he seriously lived in the Baby Bjorn. I must've worn him for at least eight hours a day . Before he was born, I thought I would be taking leisurely strolls with him as he peacefully sat in the stroller . Yeah, right! Not my child. He wouldn't sit in the stroller for five minutes!! This was very hard for me to accept since I'm such an active person.…

Wait For Us!! We Are Still Working On Sleeping Through the Night!!

As if going through pregnancy, getting through the newborn stage and adjusting to motherhood isn’t stressful enough. But just when you find yourself at a point of comfort in your role of parenting, you realize you are now responsible for knowing everything there is to being a parent and are responsible for your child’s safety, happiness and cognitive, social and emotional development. As a first time…

"Oh My God I Have Two Weddings to Pay For!!!"

“Oh my God I have two weddings to pay for!!” is what my husband shouted after I blurted in shock, “Oh my God it’s a girl!!!!” It was only a few seconds into our ultrasound today when I saw what I saw, and it wasn’t what I thought I was going to see. In fact, if you have had a conversation with me in the past month or so, I would have convinced you, as strongly as I was convinced, that we were having…

Are At-Home Gender Tests Reliable

When I went in for my 14 week ultrasound with my daughter, I asked the technician, “So, can you tell? You know, boy or girl?” She smiled at me. “Well” she responded, “I can’t give you an official verdict, but I’m about 90% sure this is a girl”. 90% was good, but I wanted to rule out that other 10%! While I waited for my 20 week ultrasound, I analyzed the Chinese calendars, hung the ring in front of…

A Message From Our Sponsor- Organic Beauty Now! (Helping You Find Skin Products That Are Healthy For You and Your Baby)

Below is a message from Tara Verkuil, CEO and founder of our sponsor, Organic Beauty Now:

Back when I was becoming a mom, I didn't know much about the beauty products I used. I knew even less about the ones I'd be using on my baby. So I did my homework. And was I in for a shock.

Toxins are in makeup. Shampoo. Toothpaste. Even diaper creams. The beauty industry puts them there.

I spent hours looking for the best alternatives to the big brand names. The ones that use…

Excuse Me, But When Did You Become My Personal Pregnancy Dietician?

It is amazing how many people (strangers) make unsolicited comments to expecting mothers about what they are and aren’t eating and what they should and shouldn’t do. I had heard stories about this before I got pregnant, but never realized how offensive it could be until it happened to me.

My…

Mommy Needs to Get in Shape!

Would any other "non-runners" be interested in doing the Couch to 5K

program along with us? It is a 10 week training program (3 run/walks a week) to get to the

point where you should be able to run a 5K (although we are not going

for time - just completion! LOL!). Here is the website: http://www.c25k.com/

We don't actually have to run together (we could once in a while if anyone

wanted to) but we can cheer each other… Continue

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF YOU!

Hi Everyone,

I can only imagine how it feels to celebrate your first Mother's Day or second or third for that matter. My Mom lives in North Carolina and is living the way she likes, with her horse, donkey and her plants. Of course my Dad is there too but he stays out of the way most of the time. One of the many gifts my Mom gave me was her laugh and joyful personality. Every time we talk we laugh. It's amazing what a good laugh can do for you.

My wish to all of you is to… Continue

Try to keep company & an emergency plan!

Hi ladies. I just wanted to pass on this bit of advice that I

unfortunately learned the hard way today.... Whatever you do always try

to have company when going on any adventures because you never know what

could happen.

Today I took London to the park at noon- an odd time of day so there was no one at the park. We were enjoying our time

playing when I let him go down the slide on his own. Now he's gone down

this slide many times without problem, but today he… Continue

A Case of the "Only Yous"

When my daughter was born, I had big plans for raising an independent child. I wanted her to be comfortable with different people and wanted her to learn independence from early on. I never took into consideration that kids come with all different temperaments and personalities.

Introducing Solid Foods - Common Questions

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that babies be breastfed or formula fed exclusively for at least six months before introducing solid foods. Some parents decide to start earlier, between 4 and 6 months due to the eagerness of the baby. What you choose is up to you and should be discussed with your pediatrician.…
