It's a little bit of both! Because the site is entirely free, we have a volunteer welcome committee, each of us take a turn hosting the Thursday park meet and greet. These along with anything else that is "hosted" by the committee members or the founders Beth and steph you will recognize as having the OC Mommies logo on it. But when members post their own get together they are posting it up and welcoming everyone and often they will have their own picture next to the event (please note if it is a private event you wont see it on the main board, but will be sent an invitation) For your specific area, I would look through the mommy groups and find your city and join in. Each group is different depending on the "leader" of the group. Some are VERY active with group meet ups once a week and private in home playdates, and some are used mostly for people to ask questions about an area etc. "does anyone know of a good kid friendly restaurant close to Bake and Trabuco"  You are also welcome to post up any playdates you would like to!
