Hi Janis, I know that many of the moms here have started businesses from home in some capacity - whether selling goods they make, marketing a service they provide, or even doing a direct-selling business. I personally have regular employment, I was working out of my office full-time, but after gaining trust for a few years I was able to negotiate a work-at-home agreement with my boss by coming up with a convincing proposal on why I don't need to be on-site each day. We started it on a trial basis and I made sure it worked out so well for them that they had no reason to think we shouldn't continue. ;)

There are definitely legitimate opportunities to contract with businesses to work from home (for example, as a virtual assistant depending on your skill-set - the guys my husband works with hire people like that all the time), but if you just do random searches on the internet, you'll come up with a lot of junk. I'm sure you are correct that health benefits are not easy to come by. However, if the pay is good enough, sometimes after weighing out all the other benefits of working from home, it can be very compelling...

Hi,
I'm not a WAHM. I actually have a regular 8-5 and am tentatively contracted to return in June (unfortunately). I managed to negotiate returning part-time temporarily, but ideally would love to be at home with my child. I wanted to find out what type of work allows you to WAH and how do you find such an opportunity. My main concern about working at home is finding health care. My family and I have a wonderful health benefits package through my place of employment. My husband's employer doesn't offer a great health plan compared to what we have now.

Happy Easter weekend!  I'm a new mommy and new member to OC Mommies.  I was reading through past comments on the wall and was interested in the monthly meetings.  Also, I'm trying to find other mommies to set playgroups :)

Smiles,
May

Hi ladies, since our June meeting, I've officially left my day job, and went independent on my own. My field is leadership coaching, and I've recently started an Etsy site designing personalized paper goods for parties: http://livelaughlovelots.etsy.com

I'm currently running a special off of the entire purchase: get the coupon code by clicking on LIKE to my FB page:

Hi Nas, my husband runs a smaller social media/internet marketing company They're on FB at http://www.facebook.com/webfluencemarketing He has some project work coming up that will turn into a regular position for the right person - if you're interested in that, send an e-mail to webfluence@me.com and include any examples of your work.

Hello Ladies!

I have worked in the marketing industry for over 10 years and recently had my first baby, my little girl and have been searching for a WAH opportunity so that I can stay home with her. I am pretty flexible in terms of what kind of work, I just really want to be home with my little girl.

If you guys have any tips or know anyone that needs full time or part time help with marketing, graphic design, social media, data entry, etc... (Essentially I'm open and willing to take on any kind of opportunity.

Please let me know.

Thank you so much!!
