Comment by May on August 17, 2012 at 8:51am So excited to be a part of OC Mommies, what a great service this website provides. I recently left a 21 year career in retail, and started a new venture of owning my own business at home. It's been great so far and I'm learning alot about time management and spending alot of time with my 5yr old daughter.(She is the #1 reason why I decided to make this move:) I'd love to get to know other moms who work at home, not only for the social aspect but to network to help build my business. I own an a specialty dress &accessory online store and do a lot of fundraiser type events. Please keep me posted on any meetings or play groups.
thanks!

Comment by Karah on July 3, 2012 at 11:07am I am still on maternity leave from my job but looking into working from home. I am an experienced accountant/bookkeeper and would love to find a small business to do the books for. If anyone has a business that could use my services or you know of anyone please let me know.
Comment by Michelle Mills on May 1, 2012 at 4:14am Hi Janis, I know that many of the moms here have started businesses from home in some capacity - whether selling goods they make, marketing a service they provide, or even doing a direct-selling business. I personally have regular employment, I was working out of my office full-time, but after gaining trust for a few years I was able to negotiate a work-at-home agreement with my boss by coming up with a convincing proposal on why I don't need to be on-site each day. We started it on a trial basis and I made sure it worked out so well for them that they had no reason to think we shouldn't continue. ;)
There are definitely legitimate opportunities to contract with businesses to work from home (for example, as a virtual assistant depending on your skill-set - the guys my husband works with hire people like that all the time), but if you just do random searches on the internet, you'll come up with a lot of junk. I'm sure you are correct that health benefits are not easy to come by. However, if the pay is good enough, sometimes after weighing out all the other benefits of working from home, it can be very compelling...

Comment by May on April 7, 2012 at 4:02pm Happy Easter weekend! I'm a new mommy and new member to OC Mommies. I was reading through past comments on the wall and was interested in the monthly meetings. Also, I'm trying to find other mommies to set playgroups :)
Smiles,
May
