Permalink Reply by Beth G on January 4, 2012 at 7:40am My daughter loves brown rice and lentils! We also do a lot of sweet potatoes. I started making her smoothies too - I add ice, water, blueberries, banana, spinach...basically anything I have!
I had introduced Sweet potatoes, beet root, carrot etc. Basically underground vegetables but he seemed to be allergic to carrot, so we came to conclusion to defer underground vegetables for a while. I do give him fruit smoothies. Thank god he is ok with any kind of fruits but I feel the need to give him more variety with respect to vegetables.
@Beth – What do you add to lentils and rice I mean what spice???
Is this good time to start spice in his food?

Permalink Reply by Beth G on January 4, 2012 at 12:32pm I typically cook my rice with 1/2 water and veggie stalk or chicken for added flavor. I usually don't add spices to my rice but I do use cumin, cinnamon, paprika, and maybe a few others all the time.
Hi!
Contact Jen Byrnell, her daughter has severe allergies to several things, and I think she is part of a nutrtion group as well here in OC or LA that really helps in terms of what to choose to feed the little ones.

Permalink Reply by Karen on January 8, 2012 at 9:23pm My son is severely allergic to dairy, eggs and all nuts - we avoid them all 100%. He's not allergic to wheat though. You shouldn't be afraid to give meat to him at this age - just introduce it slowly and watch for reactions. Wheat, eggs and nuts are all part of the "big 8" for common allergens, but chicken and other meats are not. Anyway, I would try things like chicken, beef, pork, all fruits & veggies, beans, rice, yogurt, cheese, tofu, sweet potatoes, and any non-wheat based cereals or crackers that you can find.
Sprouts is a great store to shop at for alternative foods that don't contain the allergens. It's a lot like Whole Foods, but much cheaper.
Some good news, My baby has outgrown all the allergies. We haven't and are not planning to test if he has outgrown peanut allergies.
This just makes me so happy.

How do you make chicken for the LO? just boil it, do you add flavor which ones do you add.
Permalink Reply by Melanie on June 2, 2012 at 10:15pm I am not sure what "LO" is sorry...For young children that don't have many teeth or chewing experience I recommend boiling it, and cutting it very fine, and by all means...add flavor! Makes food taste better.
