Support Our Friends!

It's kind of like being a member of Costco...or buying one of those Entertainment Books. You pay for the membership to get the savings. My friend's moms group in NYC (although on a much bigger scale), charges $75 for their discount club card. So $12 is really very reasonable.

Stephanie and Beth started the website and run OC Mommies in their 'free' time (both have 2 small children each) and Stephanie also works. They don't charge us for many events...(and when there is a charge, there is never an up-charge for them to make money, it's just to cover costs)...or to use this site to find resources, events and friendship. Many of us were either new to the area or didn't have any friends with babies when we had babies of our own and OC Mommies was where we found our support system. I will be forever grateful to OC Mommies for providing me with a place to discuss topics online with other moms and for enabling me to find such wonderful friends for myself and for my son.

Keep in mind that it costs money to keep a website running...and to put on some of the events that they do. And with the discount card, it's just really getting started. The more discount cards they sell, the more businesses will want to be a part of it...which will mean more discounts for us!

Also, Stephanie and Beth don't charge anything for people to join OC Mommies...whereas a lot of other mom's groups do. (MOMs Clubs, to name one, is $30 or $35 a year just to join and they don't have a website or anything like this). So if buying a $12 discount club card will enable them to keep this site and it's wonderful resources available to us, I feel that we should support them....because OC Mommies has supported us all in some way or another on our journeys through motherhood.

I agree! I have looked into other moms groups and was surprised (after being a member here for a while) that there was a fee to join when they had playdates maybe once a week at a park and no online discussion or blog. The online site is one of the biggest bonuses for me since I am not able to get out much. It gives me an opportunity to share, relate and discuss with other moms that are in my area and understand what I go through everyday. I truly enjoy this group and don't mind paying $12 AND getting discounts at some great businesses in OC. A BIG thanks to Stephanie and Beth for continuing to run this group at no cost to us!
