Hi Ladies!

I am in the midst of planning my son's 2nd birthday party for the end of this month (I'm a bit behind schedule) and with all I have to do I'm not going to have time to make his cake too.  Do you have any recommendations for bakeries that are not out of this world expensive?  Ive made a couple of phone calls and I am shocked at how much they want to charge.  I am not going to pay $300 for his cake! I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thank you!

Yes "It's all about the cake" does amazing work, but they are definitively very pricey. It's the same place that did our wedding cake. I got Parker's 1st b-day cake there and every year since i have just made it myself. Good Luck.

Honestly, I would just go with Costco or a grocery store. Their cakes are actually pretty good and you can get them decorated in any theme you want. The price is much better than a traditional bakery, too.

I can't believe he's almost 2 already!!

Thanks, ladies! Krista, I haven't actually called spoken to them yet because they weren't open this morning. I sent them an email with my idea. I'm doing a western theme and already have the idea of what I want. I would use a local grocery but I don't think they could create it. I just hope I can find someone somewhat reasonable. And yes, I can't believe he is already turning 2!!!

They are closed on Mondays. If you tell them your ideas and a price range you want to stay in hopefully they can work with you to create a cake your happy with. I know when you start getting into all of the detail work with the fondant is when the price goes up really fast.

Donna B's is a great place.  I always get any of my baked goods from them and everyone LOVES the taste.

My mother-in-law has a small custom cake and cookie business (http://www.honeyrosecakes.com/).  Her cakes are absolutely delicious (much better than I've found elsewhere) and she's great at customizing the cakes and decorations to whatever the theme.

And congrats on birthday #2! :)

We got our wedding cake from It's All About the Cake too - Krista is right - they are sooooooooo yummy!

we've used the RSM Pavilions for a bunch of events and the cakes/cupcakes are pretty darn good! my brother uses layer cake bakery in irvine too. if you're into the goodies from chinese bakeries that might be a good option too. I can't believe he's 2 either!!! Happy 2nd to your beautiful boy!

I've used Heidelberg bakery in MV for my wedding, showers and birthdays. They've done some amazing cakes for us and aren't ridiculously priced like some of the others.
