Recommendations for 6-12 month toys for Baby Girl's First Christmas

My little girl will also be just about 7 months at Christmas. I am planning to go simple for her since she isn't really old enough to be all into the present thing. I am planning to buy her one of those ring stacker toys lamaze makes a cute one and a baby's first christmas ornament. I also have a music box for her. I am not sure what else...I am interested to follow to get more ideas :)

I know it's hard to not go crazy for their first Christmas, but my advice would be to get her something special like a keepsake and a few little toys. She's just going to end up playing with the packaging anyway....or the plastic cup you just used...or the empty roll of paper towels... :) I would recommend an activity table since she'll be standing soon...she can use that for a year or so...We also got my son a bike that has 3 stages...so it's good for 10 months up to 3yrs. I wouldn't get a bunch of toys that are appropriate for 7 months old necessarily b/c she'll grow out of it very quickly. Enjoy your first holiday season with your little one! It's such a special time!

Something memorable or a keepsake is always special.  I love the music box and xmas ornament ideas.

We got the Playskool Ball Popper for my son when he was 6 months old, and he still plays with it today at 18 months old.  It's nice because they can grow into it, from just watching the balls come out to actually making it work themselves(though admittedly it's annoying having to chase balls all over the place when they're little and can't do it themselves).  We got this one, but I think it's been discontinued and replaced by one shaped like an elephant: http://www.amazon.com/Playskool-Explore-Grow-Busy-Popper/dp/B002B55...

It's also a pretty low price point so we've definitely gotten our money's worth!
