My family moved to Irvine about 2-3 months ago from Charlotte, NC.  I am a little bit crunchy, and make a considerable amount of stuff at home- including beauty items.  I thought that Whole Foods would have some of the items I am looking for, but they didn't, and they had no idea of suggestions.

I am looking for a place that sells dried flowers, powdered clays, essential oils, etc.  I know that WF has the essential oils, but I am mainly looking for dried lavender, calendula, chamomile, dried kelp.  I have an online source, but it isn't as much fun as scooping it and measuring it myself.

Are there any places here in SoCal that would have these kinds of items?

have you tried mothers market? I know for sure that they have a wide variety of essential oils and likely the other items. There are a few locations in Orange County

i have never looked for these items, but the store Mother's Market could have some of it - maybe? It is a very health orientated grocery store, same prices as WF,but their presentation is not as nice. Their shelves are stocked to the brim and full of very different products.  I know there is one in Laguna Hills just around the corner from Saddleback hospital and Laguna Hills Mall. Good luck!

Great minds think alike!!

I have heard of Mother's.  I have been wanting to go there, and now I have a reason. Thanks ladies.

Hi! I'm crunchy too. :) Mother's has what you're looking for but what you're really wanting is to participate in a coop with Frontier. They stock almost all the dried herbs and spices and also essential oils that Mother's carries but you can get them wholesale! South Coast Midwifery FB page will sometimes post a Frontier coop. Actually the minimum to order is only $250 which we meet in our own family every couple of months because they also sell tons of other brands so if you wanted to you could just open your own and order directly. It's https://wholesale.frontiercoop.com/
Thanks so much for sharing this, Giselle!!

I have bought Frontier products before.  My last natural food store used to carry quite a bit of their line.  I don't know that my needs would meet the $250 minimum purchases.  I was honestly just looking for smaller quantities to make small batches of afterbath oils for the winter.  My boys get really dry skin in the winter and they seem to look forward to this chocolate lavendar oil recipe that I found through Rythym of the Home.

I like being able to make my own personal care items, but I generally do so in small batches, so it is nice to be able to measure out my own quantities and have less waste.  I do buy my flour and yeast in bulk though.

Thank you for the information though. I have never had a problem with Frontier products, and they are a company that can definitely be trusted.

Hello :)- There is a store in costa mesa that sell some stuff called crystal cave. Also, I belong to a meetup group that offers classes on making and studying herbs, oils, etc. I have not been to any of there events yet as I have a little baby at home but, many of there classes are offered at a shop in Bellflower that sells a very wide variety of essential oils and herbs called practical magicka {I have not been there yet as it is far and I don't have a need as of yet) They have a website you can check out and I think you can buy in small amounts. Welcome to the area!

Megan

I am also looking for a good shop which sells dried flowers but I haven't found one in my area yet. Due to this I often order flowers on line and then dry them at home which is a lot of work but then I am sure that I only have those flowers dried I really need. I will definitely take a look at all the links to different shops you have posted here.
