Permalink Reply by Jennifer on September 18, 2011 at 9:44am Hi Jennifer! I am so sorry to hear that you're having issues with your LOs daycare :( I've always been so afraid to put my babe into daycare for this exact reason. I've been lucky so far...she's 5mos and I am still at home with her. But, I plan on going back to work at some point, so, I'll be in the same boat as you soon enough. That's why when I saw this I wanted to post something immediately!
I know you're in Irvine and you'd like to have an in-home daycare close to home, but, I thought I'd post info about my friend's boyfriend's sister's (that was a mouth full, huh?) in-home daycare in Long Beach. She just started, but, in some ways I think that might be a positive because she's going to strive to do the best job she can since she's new to it and she wants to prove herself to her peers and to the parents of the children in her care. The website is http://www.beginningsbungalow.com/?ref=nf#!gallery
Hopefully you can find something closer to your home. But, if not...I think this is a viable option :) Good luck!
Hi Jennifer,
Not sure where in Irvine you live, but my son goes to Tutor Time in Oak Creek. It's not an in-home daycare, obviously, but we have had a very good experience there (we have been going since January). The ratio in the infant room is as you mentioned, 1:4 with maximum capacity of 8, but they currently only have 4 in the infant class. The teachers there have taken great care of our son and listen to our needs as well. Very low turnover (the two infant teachers have been there for years). Our LO is now in the toddler class and doing well in there too. It sounds like you've made up your mind, and I'm not trying to convince you against an in-home daycare. I just wanted to say not all daycare centers are bad.
Permalink Reply by Jennifer Governski on September 18, 2011 at 8:28pm Hi Cindy - you are actually the 2nd person I've spoken to just recently who has said wonderful things about Tutor Time in Oak Creek. So I've decided to make an appointment there this week. I'm so glad you wrote because I have some questions about that specific daycare if you don't mind answering them. :) Has your LO grown attached to any of his caretakers? How often has he gotten sick or has he? How do you feel about the cleanliness of the infant room and the cleanliness of your son after being there for the whole day? These are the main issues I'm running into in my current daycare which by the way, is a KinderCare. I'd love to hear your answers to these questions and I truly appreciate your time and help!! Thanks!

Hi Jennifer -
Sorry for barging in but I think your experience would help our research we area doing.
Can you help us out? We are looking for parents who have had/have a child in a nursery/preschool and live in Orange County to take a short (5-10 min) survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/66HLQBY
The results will be posted here on O.C. Mommies to help other parents find a quality program for their child.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi Jennifer,
Happy to help. My LO has definitely grown attached to his caretakers and always has a smile when he is dropped off. He even gets excited when he sees the director. She's great with babies, and he loves hanging out with her. They are always happy to see him too, especially if he's had family visit and skipped a few days of daycare. The infant room is very clean. My son is always clean at the end of the day too. They change his diaper frequently, as well as his bibs throughout the day (he drooled a lot so they were always telling me to bring extra bibs). Sometimes he would go through 6 in a day. They change his clothes if they get dirty from feeding or other messes or too much drool. They even fix his hair if it gets unruly.
He has gotten sick a few times. I think this is unavoidable with any daycare situation that involves other children. They share everything, including the germs. Someone always has the sniffles or a runny nose, although I don't think he got sick at all during the summer. But it wasn't anything major, where he was bothered by it. He seemed to feel fine, just with extra sneezes. Also you have to keep your child at home if they have a fever and can't bring them back until it has cleared for 24 hours, and I feel like that was honored by the other parents and there wasn't anyone trying to sneak in a sick child.
I hope that helps! Message me if you have any other questions!
