Hi Ladies,
I was wondering if anyone can share their experience with Dr.Cvar at Mission Hospital. My hubby and I are TTC and I'm looking to switch doctors. I'm looking for a doctor that will support attempting a natural delivery and that will work with a doula.
I would appreciate any information. Thank you!
Best, Melissa

Permalink Reply by Nicole G. on March 31, 2012 at 9:34am Melissa - I always had a female obgyn and was totally opposed to having a male. I love Dr. James more than any female Dr. I've had. He's worth at least checking out. :)
Dr. Hashad at Mission Ob/Gyn is fabulous!! I am not sure about the doula, but she is always very accommodating. She is on maternity leave now, but you may want to call and see when she comes back to work. Good luck!
Permalink Reply by Katie Peter on April 4, 2012 at 2:29pm Hi Melissa! Dr. Cvar is my OB/GYN and delivered my daughter. I love her. She has MANY patients and does talk very fast when you visit with her, but has always been VERY thorough. I recommend her 100%!! Good Luck!!
I am using Dr. Cvar for my pregnancy and she is very open to holistic health. Her office used to have a partnership with Dr. Sears (the father) in which she would recommend his practice to new mothers. He is like the poster child of natural parenting. I had a friend that delivered through her as well. I like her, but I am only 16 weeks right now and can't give you any first hand account of the delivery. I know my friend who had her son through Dr. Cvar did mention specifically that she is open to discussion about natural options. If you ask her though, she can only tell you yes or no. I chose her based on the fact that the hospital is supposed to be more natural birth friendly.
She is also very well versed on the latest research. I am taking Vitamin D supplements because preliminary research suggests a link between Vitamin D deficiencies and autism. I have 5 friends who are pregnant or just had babies and their doctors have yet to mention this to them. She actually quoted the research, which my husband loved (but he is an academic and LOVES research).
I also heard awesome things about Dr. James but he didn't take our insurance so that ruled him out for us.
Melissa,
Did you end up choosing Dr. Cvar? How do you like her? For anyone else who used her, what is it that really made you feel comfortable with her?
I have to have a C-section and I am starting to having a large amount of anxiety about it.

No I didn't switch to Dr. Cvar. We are still trying to conceive. When I called a long time ago to switch to her before we were even trying the secretary told me Dr.Cvar wasn't taking new patients, only pregnant patients. As of now I am staying with my current doctor and when we get pregnant I will stay with her and deliver at Saddleback Hospital. From what I've heard Dr.Cvar's patients all love her. My co-worker just had her baby via c-section and Dr.Cvar was her doctor.
Good luck with your c-section. How many weeks are you now?
Best, Melissa
