Hi Mayumi,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! We live in Woodbury and send our son to Tutor Time in Oak Creek (there is also a Tutor Time in Northwood). He has been happy there, and we've had a great experience with them. He's been going for a year, starting from when he was 4 months old. The teachers and staff are very caring and have taken great care of our son.
Good luck with your search!

Pavithra, there isn't much you can do to prevent your child from getting sick at daycare. Especially this time of year, it's not uncommon for the kids to have a cold. I would recommend getting the flu shot for your son, if he's older than 6 months. Other than that, make sure you wash his hands before he eats and cleaning his bottles/cups every night should help get rid of any germs he might pick up at daycare.
When is he starting at Tutor Time? Which campus are you going to?

Permalink Reply by Mayumi on February 22, 2012 at 8:48am Hi Mayumi, I am licensed for a small family home child care. However, I am full. But, Irvine has a lot of resources for child care in the different regions. Check out this link http://www.ci.irvine.ca.us/cityhall/cs/childcare/default.asp and on the lefty and side of the screen are different links to resources that you should check out. There is also a list of family child care homes as well as facilities. The lists are divided by regions. There is also a checklist on the website of things to ask and to look for when looking into child care.
Good luck! And if you have any questions, let me know :)

For home daycare, I think it is too early to look, but it is not too early to check places out, home and/or facilities. You can always inquire about a waiting list, but it is never too early to check them out to see what's out there. I would encourage you to start looking to see what you like, don't like, figure out your preferences, how people run their daycare, what you should expect, cleanliness, etc. After all, it would be awful to get stuck somehwere that you do not like because you ran out of time to look.
Keep in mind, that some families are long term with childcare, so spots won't open up, but some families are short term. Childcare spots can change frequently as well as not very often. When you call places, ask if you can just go by to check out their home/facility and start developing your list of pros and cons.
I hope this helps!
