So, although I think Kevin should be walking before I start to potty train him (thats right...almost 15 months...still not walking), I think I'd like to get a potty...Just to put in the bathroom so that he sees it and has time to get used to it before it's really potty time...

Any suggestions? There are so many...from the simple Baby Bjorn potties to Summer Infant with sounds and its own roll of toilet paper that turns into a step stool later on... Which have you all tried? Are there any that appeal to the little ones more than others?

We like our basic baby bjorn potties!

I barely did any research for this purchase (which is very unlike me) . I bought this one - http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Ducky-Fun-3-in-1-Potty/dp/B003G2...

I like that it's like a little toilet, and it becomes a stool and potty ring later.  It quacks and sings when the baby goes in it! I think that's exciting, but so far I don't know if Sahana does.  She's only 13 months, and I bought it for the same purpose as you - just some pre-potty training-getting-used-to-potty-in-the-bathroom.  She has used it a few times though, and it seems to serve it's purpose.

Thanks guys! Saritha- That looks cute!!

ok I am SO glad i am not the only one doing this early. When A goes number 2. he crawls into a corner and gets a "look"

So I wanted to get a potty to put him on when he does that, at least so he starts to associate it!

Thanks for the suggestions!

We really like our Baby Bjorn potties also:

I will say now that my toddler is potty trained, I am not so into the little potty, or should I say, cleaning the little potty...I have a travel potty I take with me, but I am now using the Baby Bjorn toilet seat cover the most. It adjusts so easily to any toilet seat when we're out, and it sure takes some time to get used to helping a toddler use a public restroom. =0) Happy potty shopping!

We have a potty that looks like a dump truck- it's way cool, makes sounds when you pee in it and London wants NOTHING to do with it except push it around like it's a car! So we decided to just get one of those potty seats that attach to the regular toilet Potty Seat - less clean up too if and when he starts using it! He has been telling me when he poops and pees since he was about 15months! But every time I tell him let's use it he says no- we even have an elmo potty time video that he loves, he can tell you all kinds of names for pee and poop. So yea.... When I worked at KinderCare, the boys always took longer to start potty training and the girls started earlier but it always seemed that once the boys were ready that was it- they did it and the girls tended to have more accidents. So I'm hoping London just one day decides he is ready haha

Yeah, his Dr said not even to really attempt to fully potty train until he's 2... I guess just b.c boys do everything later than girls... So I'm not sure what will happen when we really get into it...but I'm hoping that once he decides he's ready, he'll just do it. I've been scared of potty training since he was born.
Brooklyn is 16 months and we just recently started putting her on the potty a few weeks ago when she started grunting. We put her on the regular potty and held her and grunted with her. I then went out and bought the Summer Infant potty that turns into stool and toilet cover....she did go potty on it, but my husband was so not into having to dump the potty out and clean it, so we have attached the cover to our toilet...I don't think we'll be using the small potty anymore since she poops on either. Also, we only put her on toilet if we catch her in time....she still poops when we aren't looking and doesn't tell us, but we figure it doesn't hurt to start trying slowly.
hey guys - just wanted to throw this in there - my toddler is in LOVE with the Elmo Potty Time DVD. Seriously, I think it actually helped...just in case anyone's considering a potty DVD. There's also a really cool one called the Potty Train, which is a sign language DVD for going potty, if anyone is interested in borrowing, let me know!
