Hi,
We're currenlty looking for a part time (2 full days a week) childcare provider/facility for my 22 month old son. Although we live in Aliso Viejo, we're focusing on the Irvine area because it's closer to where my husband and I both work. We ideally want to find somewhere that has some other toddlers his age or older and also somewhere that is somewhat flexible so we can add an extra day from time to time when our other childcare provider goes on vacation or is sick. (We don't have any family that lives in the area which definitely makes things more challenging!) Ideally, we'll all love this new place and gradually transition my son full time there, especially if it is also a preschool.
I initially began calling a bunch of at-home day cares but the ones with the most qualifications also seem to be the least flexible. Another mom I met recently just recommended St. Andrews Children's Center. Anyone have any feedback on that particular facility or a recommendation for any other childcares in the area that we should consider? This is such a stressful process so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Rachel

There are TONS of past discussions about childcare and you can access lots of them by typing key words into the search field. i.e. "childcare". It'll bring up the past threads with recommendations from Moms.
Hope this helps and good luck!
Permalink Reply by Karen on October 30, 2011 at 11:28pm Have you looked at Good Shepherd? I know they take young children in part time programs. Two of my friends have their kids going there for full days on Tues/Thurs (one is 22 months, one is 2.5 years). A lot of my friends kids go there for preschool and they are all really, really happy with it. Everything I hear is positive and I know about 8-9 people with kids there.
It's on the corner of Yale and Irvine Center Drive. They do daily tours - I think at 10 a.m. - so give them a call and check it out. Good luck.

Permalink Reply by Michelle Lebron on November 1, 2011 at 2:08pm Hi Rachel- I HIGHLY suggest that you check out Child Deverlopment Center a preschool located in the corner parking lot of Irvine Valley College, (Irvine Center Drive/Jeffrey). It's an amazing preschool with very caring teachers and staff. I love that the rooms are HUGE they are all triple the size of every preschool I have visit in Irvine, and the playgrounds are completely shaded which is great for the summer months. Also this was one of the CLEANEST preschool's I have seen because the janitorial from College scrubs it down every night. They have one playgroud for trikes, bikes only and they have over a dozen bikes for the kiddos'... They do require that your child is potty trained and, if I'm not mistaken they take them as early as 2 years or 2.5, I don't recall.
Best of luck. Michelle.
