Childrens book Recommendations?

My almost two year old son LOVES books! He's been known to go to bed with a book in lieu of a bear. In the mornings after waking up, his first request..."book, book!" we have a pretty extensive book collection but I'm already growing bored of them. I have memorized most of them and just want something new! He certainly has his favorites (as do I), but I want to introduce him to some new ones. Do you have any awesome books you suggest?

Hey Dianna- my 3 yr old is getting into the Llama Llama books. They rhyme and are cute, and are good stories. She's into the books about telling time, where they get to move the clock, days of the week, anything that lets her touch/manipulate something that is part of the book. LIke those textured books or peekabo books...also she's into stories by Eric Carle, Karen Katz, the Olivia books, Clifford....oh and she's now into those Step Into Reading books by Random House, that I think are steps 1-5, where the first step #1 is just a few words per page. They have all sorts of them, like Thomas, Dora, etc. I got a bunch of great ideas from her preschool's Scholastic Book Club catalog - can't believe they're still around!

So I dont have any recs for books, but I HIGHLY recommend Childrens Orchard and the library in MV for buying used books, a lot of them are just 50 cents!!

I got Goodnight Moon and didn't think much of it until I read it to my son and he LOVES it! He also like when I read him Shel Silverstein poems.

My son LOVES goodnight moon!  Its the book we read every night.  Oh, yes...the Shel Silverstein poems.  I loved those as a child!  Thanks!

I saw something a few months ago for a toddler magazine....They get it every month and it's filled with stories appropriate for their age. Remind me to look that up for you. It looked cool!

My neighbor is signed up for a monthly book club too. Every month a new age appropriate book is mailed to your house. I thought it was a good idea. I'll ask her details

The books available through Chinaberry (an online book site) are all amazing. They also have a book called Under the Chinaberry Tree that I highly recommend. It is all short book synopses, great essays about being a mother (not cheesy, not trite, really great reading). Many of the books are older and not something I would have necessarily found by browsing a bookstore but they are gems. Also, Babybug magazine is great for toddlers.
