Hello Mommies! I just joined OC Mommies yesterday and wanted to say how happy I was to find this site! With that said let me get to my question.

Does anyone go to 24 Hour Fitness and use the daycare service there? My husband quit LA Fitness and joined 24. I do not have a membership but would like to get back into shape!!!
I have a 2.5 year old and a 4.5 month old and am 'contemplating' whether or not I feel comfortable enough yet to leave my 4.5 month old in a daycare. I didn't even leave my 2.5 year old son alone (never a night away) until he was just over 2 (birth to baby sis). Anyhow, I hope someone can answer this post! :o)

Hi Christine,
Welcome! Personally I have worked (taught for) and been a member of both 24 hour and LA Fitness. and 24 hour is just not baby friendly. Their kids klub, really is for kids. But LA Fitness (irvine anyway, not Laguna Niguel) has a baby area and a kids area and is much more conducive to the babies.
But another member Michelle Scott posted a Wonderful club called Studio SeaSide http://www.studioseaside.com/class-descriptions/
I havent checked it out yet, but if it is as wonderful in person as their website says, then this is my new club!
Just my thoughts!

Hi Christine-Welcome to OC Mommies!! I joined last week :)

I had a membership at 24 Hour Ultra Sport in Irvine and toured their daycare. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my baby there and never did. Plus the daycare hours weren't flexible. I think they have an age requirement too--look into that if you haven't yet.

A few of my friends with kids (2 years & up) are members at The Renaissance Club in Aliso Viejo and have raved about it! I hear their Kids Club is incredible and the hours are great. I think they take infants too, but check...

Good luck!
I was just there this morning and left my 4 and 6 year old in the babysitting room. I'd say it's fine for most kids for a short time. There are a few toys, some paper to color on but often all my girls do is sit and watch Disney movies until I pick them up. I'm not sure what their policy is on ages of children but I don't think I've ever seen a child there under 6 months old. There is a ratio of one babysitter to 10 kids so they may have a hard time attending to an infant while watching the rest of the motley crew.
Hi all,

I live in A.V. and checked out the Laguna Niguel YMCA. They have complimentary 2 hour babysitting for members, and they do take babies. They have a large room where the kids play, with a separate section for infants so the bigger kids don't run them over. They have a pretty good spread of hours, and even a few hours on Saturday morning if that's your only shot.
For kids in diapers, they will come find you in the club if the diaper needs changing, so don't think you can run off and go shopping! They had a 'date night' on offer when I looked into it too, which was a real steal at $25 for 5 hours!!! It's only scheduled once a month now, I think, but what a deal!!!

That's my 2 cents. Didn't join yet, as we are working out our budget, but that will be where I go for workouts!
christine - thanks for posting, i was just thinking of this same thing as we are also members of 24 hour fitness, and my 2 daughters are similar in age to your 2 kids, so i am thankful for the input.
HI Christine,
Our family has some personal experience with 24 hour fitness and their neglectful kids gyms. Due to the sensitivity of the subject and my daughter's privacy I would rather not post the details, but would be happy to share them privately if someone wants to know about them via email. Lets just say that we found out first hand how dangerous these places can be, and I would strongly urge you to really investigate, and look to see how well the children are being supervised in there before risking it. We truly had a horrific experience, and I would never want anyone to go through what my daughter and our family had to.
Best of Luck,
Danielle Gauss, OCMommies Advisor
Thanks for posting your experience Danielle.

Another great option is The Renissance Club in Aliso Viejo. It's AMAZING!!! Their kids club is the best I've seen. They have cameras all throughout their play area so you can see your baby in their lobby area. They were very attentive to Colin when we went and I felt super comfortable there. We plan on joining again. They also offer 3 hrs of childcare a day when you are at the club!!!
